Bedding options for boys

I know this will shock some of you but here goes...I love dogs. If I'm having a boy I'd like to do a dog-themed nursery featuring large photos of my dogs. I'm serious. This is how I roll. The blog is after all called, From Dogs to Baby. I like this bedding but it might be a tad too neutral for me. It's really cheap, I mean reasonable, though. It's called Spot and it's by Bananafish. I would do black furniture.

I am really drawn to this set as well. It's called Bali. It's about 100 more dollars than the previous set but I like the earthy colors. I would probably do the walls green and that might look better with dog pics in Sepia tones...The moral of the story is that I am dying to find out what we're having because I love decorating and you can be a bit kooky with a nursery. By the way, I scheduled the level II ultrasound for December 30th so we will find out the sex then.

I peed my pants: Part Two

I had my 16 week appointment today. As soon as you get there, they always make you pee in a cup so they can test for proteins or something. I did that just fine. About five minutes later while in the doc's room I was told by the tech that she would send me home with some sterile urine kit to get some more pee for some other test. I told her I could go again now, so I went...

Now since I had just peed I didn't think there would be much in there. The private bathroom is kind of big so I stood in the middle of the room and started to pee in the fairly large sized container. All of a sudden, the pee is approaching the top of the container. I tried to stop my pee stream, but it wouldn't stop. I tried again, nothing! At this point I was two feet from the toilet so I started to waddle (while peeing) over to the toilet. Next thing you know, the cup is full and I am peeing on my pants and the floor. I am not even kidding. There was no stopping this stream. Now I understand all the hype about the darn Kegal exercises.

Now get this: my mom calls during my appointment. I thought my phone was on silent but apparently not. Buzz accidentally hits the answer key and puts the phone back in his pocket. My mom proceeds to listen to our appointment for the next 20 minutes and even gets to hear the baby's heartbeat. What are the odds? There is a long history of my sister and I accidentally calling our mother and she has heard some pretty horrible things in the past, but that is for another post...

Wow this is a long entry...we heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was in the 140's. I am supposed to schedule my Level II Ultrasound for before my next appointment (which is January 5th). We get these extras because I have a thyroid condition. See, there are benefits to autoimmune diseases. We will hopefully find out the sex then!

Holiday Weekend

After a long, boring week of being sick we enjoyed a nice weekend filled with holiday traditions. On Friday, Buzz and I went to Dickens in Dundee. The little shops on Main St. in Dundee make "living" windows where they have kids and adults dressed up and portraying holiday scenes. Some of the stores have free hot chocolate or cookies. They have a couple tree-lighting ceremonies too. Last year we brought Otis and Buzz had a horrible time because, get this...people were touching Otis! This year we went sans the dogs and it was easier to maneuver around. On Saturday we took the dogs to see Santa at Petco. Let's use the term Santa loosely because Santa was a chick. The dogs had a hard time settling, the pics were crummy and Greta tried to eat another dog but all in all it wasn't too bad. I was lucky to have Buzz to control the dogs.
Saturday night I had the Elk Grove Pet Clinic girls over for a holiday party/ornament exchange. Everyone brought treats to share and we had some good laughs as always. Otis used the ladies to try to score snacks and he succeeded a few times. They're all suckers for a good-looking red dog.

Note the ornament that Janice (in the foreground) is holding. Yes, that is a shiny, Christmas poo and that was the ornament that I contributed to the exchange. For your info it was a hot commodity. Sunday afternoon I met the past and present ladies of Muir School for our annual Brunch at the Season's of Long Grove. It was great to catch up with everyone and we did some shopping afterwards. Although it's cold, I love this time of year. It's always good to catch up with old friends.

I am the proud owner of a Snoogle

Between sleeping and moaning yesterday we exchanged anniversary gifts. I have been talking up the Snoogle pillow for some time and sure enough, Buzz came through with the pillow and organic pillow case. For those that have these: did you use the pillow case or just deal with the washable cover? The pillow case seems like a waste of money at 30 bucks! Technically I don't need it yet but I used it last night and it was awesome!

My second gift was a digital picture frame. This was pretty funny because it's the same thing that I got Buzz. He was talking about how cool they were so I thought I was pretty smart getting him one. We proceeded to argue for the next 10 minutes over which one was better and why we should keep it. We decided in the end that we'd return both and get one we both liked. The one I got him was too big and the one he got me didn't have any internal memory. I would like to point out that mine played music and movies as well.

I am off work again today due to my flu/food poisoning but we will attempt to go out to dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary. I better get better soon because I have a jam-packed weekend. Also, we have our 16 week appointment on Monday.

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to my favorite person, Buzz. This is our 3rd wedding anniversary but we've been together for 12 years! I can't wait to start the next chapter of our lives together. I know that this man is going to be one of the best dads I've ever seen. There, enough sap for one day.

We were supposed to celebrate at a restaurant tonight but I blew it. Last night I made a Mexican dinner (burritos, re fried beans and corn). From the moment I finished I felt severely ill. It ended up coming out both ends all night long. So right now I sit in my bathrobe having just gotten up and I'm about to go have some crackers and water and then we'll open presents. Too much information?

You Must Watch This Video!!!

This is the funniest video I have seen since, well ever! Turn up your volume to hear the snoring and stay tuned till the very end. This is so worth watching.
