Otis and the case of the missing turd

Yes he is damn good-looking. But guess what I found him doing the other day? He was barking/talking to something upstairs. Normally this is the bark that he uses when he's trying to get to a toy he can't reach or he's confused.

I find him in the dark bathroom barking at a floating turd that was left behind in the toilet. Only Otis!

Look out dogs, Ella is crawling!

I'm 9 months old!

Ella's Stats:

Weight: 16.9 # (20%)
Height: 27.75 (75%)
Head: 17.5 (50%)

So basically she is tall and skinny...just like her parents - wink, wink! Boy has this latest month brought changes. She is finally looking like one of the big kids - not just a little slump of a baby.

I'll admit it, she had her first injury on BUZZ's watch. She slumped forward and hit her chin on a toy and it caused a scab to form. That was so much worse than when she rolled off our bed and landed on her side and I thought she broke her arm, lost consciousness, was scarred for life, would go blind, never forgive me... on MY watch. Yep, my watch. I called the pediatrician to report my negligence and waited for DCFS to show. In case you're wondering, I was right there and she rolled so fast that I couldn't get her in time.
Her personality continues to develop. She is not easily upset or frightened. She is also easy to talk out of being upset.
Now I know this sounds lame but she brings a little bit of joy everywhere she goes. Especially at my Grandma's rehab center. Gram was in for six weeks and we visited about two times per week. Everyone there adored her. She was like a little celebrity.
She likes to do things by herself already! Just kidding.

We can just barely get a barrette in her hair finally.
Her daddy continues to crack her up.
I on the other hand, put her to sleep!
Sadly, we've had to pack away some of the baby items. The swing, bouncy chair, playmat and Bumbo chair are all in the attic.
She's attempting to feed herself.
She has tried all kinds of people food recently including avocados, bananas, bread, pasta, corn, blueberries, rice, celery, asparagus, mashed potatoes, frozen yogurt and Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza (thanks, or no thanks to Jeanie on the pizza!).

She has 1.5 teeth. The other bottom tooth has sprouted. With that came her first cold. Her nose has been running for almost two weeks. We've had to use that damn booger snatcher 10 times a day.
Since I can't put her in a bouncy anymore when I shower, she goes in the playpen now. She doesn't mind it yet.
She has been getting up from a lying position for a few weeks now so when we go into her room in the morning, she is sitting there.
She wreaks havoc at the pediatrician's office. She is no longer content to watch the world go by. She is a part of it now.

Although this shouldn't count for this post because it's past the 20th, we have big news from today... she crawled! She's not crawling, but she did crawl a few feet. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Also, after her nap she was standing in her crib. OMG.

Let it Snow!

Check out Randy's long lost sister. You know, Randy from "A Christmas Story." "Now daddy, are you sure it's not too cold for me to be outside?"

Greta couldn't hang. Apparently it was too cold for her delicate paws.

Ella soon tired of our reindeer games...
Now let's see, before we go in, are we forgetting anything? Oh right, the baby.

Superbowl - or Kidbowl

The Rojas family hosted Superbowl at their big, beautiful house a few Sundays ago. I can proudly say that I did not watch even one ounce of the game. Instead I watched the cute kids and the delicious food. Here are the babies of the group - Keaton and Ella. Where is Adriana, the third baby, you might wonder... Oh look, there is Adriana with the one-year olds! Is she standing? You betcha. Why do kids always look like they were just busted talking smack about their parents?
We thought it would be really cute to get the kiddos lined up in Jacob's playroom in front of the mural. We also thought it would be cute to make pigs fly!
We settled for moms and kids.
Notice the scowls on all the dudes' faces. Whatevs!
I'd like to take this time to point out that my friends - although mostly into their 30's now - have immature taste buds. Buzz and I brought a delicious smoked salmon, dip and crackers to share. Not only was everyone (expect Mike, I knew I always liked him for a reason, Stanczak) afraid to try it; they made fun of it all night. Something similar happened a few years back with ham & swiss sliders that I made. So from now on we will be bringing wings or sliders or something gross like that to Superbowl parties. There, I feel much better! Let's hear it haters...
Oh and thanks for hosting Rocky & Jill.

Lordy, Lordy, Look Who's Forty!

By looking at this picture, it's hard to believe that this girl is going to be 40 years old. She does not look or act anywhere near this age. Here's to a girl who's always fun, kindhearted and generous. Enjoy your party and remember, it will be nine more years until I catch up to you in your forties!!!
